A STEM education brings prosperity, preparedness and opportunity. Between 2014 and 2024, the number of STEM jobs will grow 17 percent, as compared to 12 percent for non-STEM jobs. At all levels of educational attainment, STEM job holders earn 11 percent higher wages compared to their same-degree counterparts in other jobs1. Almost all of the 30 fastest-growing occupations in the next decade will require at least some background in STEM2.
CORONAVIRUS IMPACT
2020 SUMMER PROGRAMS
Response
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, our 2020 Summer Camp Experiences scheduled to be held at The University of Texas at Dallas and Texas Christian University were canceled. In the interest of our students and public health, we created a unique program called, The GEMS eCamp Experience — a unique, blended model for engaging middle school girls in STEM. Although this is not the ideal situation, we are confident that our program was NOT more of the same, in terms of eLearning. We worked diligently to preserve the human elements of our traditions and sisterhood, while applying STEM concepts in a safe and engaging digital environment using a STEM kit configuration.
